throughout the world have been and continued to be interested
in these long standing traditions. Modern Mandarin can
offer you classes on these and many other Chinese Cultures.
Our Activity and Culture Courses are taught by knowledgeable
masters from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, East China
Normal University, Shanghai Second Medical University,
and Shanghai Normal University.
All courses meet once a week for 3 hours per
session. Total course length is 8 weeks.

Chinese Calligraphy
The Chinese Brush Calligraphy is one of the traditional
four arts which was once an important critical standard
for the Chinese literati in the imperial era and now
prevails not only in China but also worldwide as a unique
branch of art.
Chinese
Painting
An important part of the country's cultural heritage,
the traditional Chinese painting is distinguished from
Western art in that it is executed on xuan paper (or
silk) with the Chinese brush, Chinese ink and mineral
and vegetable pigments.
Chinese Medicine and Traditional
Health Care
Traditional Chinese Medicine ("TCM") is an
integral part of Chinese culture. TCM is defined as
a medical science governing the theory and practice
of traditional Chinese medicine. It includes Chinese
Medication, pharmacology/herbology, acupuncture, massage,
and Qigong.
Chinese
History
The Xia-Shang-Zhou Chronology Project, a five-year project
supported by the Chinese government, released the chronology
of the early dynasties in 2000, which was rather ambiguous
before. The researchers not only used many historical
documents, but also used various modern scientific methods
in the project.
