We
believe that it is important for children to master
their native language and culture, as well as the one
that they are living in. We would like to maximize the
international aspect of community and encourage the
blend of cultures.
We run classes for children aged 4 to 16 years.
We provide a fun-packed programme which children look
forward to, parental support and advice, coupled with
developmental talks from experts, are all part of our
programme. Stimulating sessions are structured around
age-appropriate activities, language games, sound recognition,
our own stories, puppets, poetry, song, music, drama,
laughter, making friends and having fun.

Our MODERN teaching methods for Children to learn Chinese:
Interactive learning is fun!
Children learn Chinese through listening and speaking.
Young children learn these skills more easily than adults.
So we use games, songs, stories and activities to teach
children Chinese.
Stories
are used to present and practice new language, but they
also contain an added dimension an opportunity for children
to discuss issues which are raised in the stories, such
as how we treat our friends and family, show consideration
for other people, play in a responsible way, share and
do things together. The children combine the fun of the
stories with learning about life, as well as language.
Now me!
For young children the most interesting topic is themselves.
So we use every opportunity to relate the language to
pupils’ own lives and experience. Do not limit vocabulary
to the ones covered. Give children the words they need
to be able to make true statements and express real feelings.
Ask pupils to draw on pieces of paper which we can mount
to display. Encourage pupils to bring in photos, books
and personal belongs.
Keep moving!
Young children need to move around. So we try to include
at least one activity which involves a physical response.
Have the children stand up to sing the songs and also
to respond to questions or take their turn in games and
chaining activities.
Making things!
Children enjoy making things, providing the skills involved
are not too demanding. There are opportunities for pupils
to make finder puppets, cards, and games. Use these to
encourage children to talk about what they are doing and
use Chinese language purposefully. |
